Today is Tuesday and that means it’s time for a monster from reality! :D These guys are a couple of lions and I’m not calling the whole tsavo lion species monsters because of the actions of 2 individuals, lol. I’m not prejudice! Meet the Tsavo Maneaters!
This is an actually photograph of the 2 maneless male tsavo lions on display.
Lions as a rule are formidable predators. They possess both intelligence and strength. However today’s monster isn’t a normal lion, they’re 2 tsavo lions from Kenya. Back in 1898 a construction was launched in order to connect Kenya and Uganda through a railway system. But the process of building this railway was characterized by numerous deaths. 2 tsavo lions, the infamous tsavo maneaters discovered that the human workers on the building site were easy prey. Nobody knows how many workers were killed exactly but the leader of the Railway project John Henry Patterson once claimed there were 135 workers killed. If that’s true that’s an even scarier thought since it’s believed that only 2 lions were behind the attack.
serial killing lions! nice!
SvarSletwow this is scary
SvarSletSteve French buddy, is that you?
SvarSletAre these lions the inspiration for 'The Ghost and the Darkness'?
SvarSletmust love lions :)
SvarSletnumerous deaths of black slaves you mean?
SvarSlet:trollface:
Oh wasn't that movie with Val Kilmner and Michael Douglas about that.
SvarSletWasn't there a movie about this?
SvarSleti'm glad i work in an office. the chances of getting eaten by animals is very minimal.
SvarSletTHose are cool, i want one.
SvarSletI would think that a scrawny Indian national or Ugandan would be little more than an appetizer to one of those things, that's why they ate so many. Kind of like ordering a dozen chicken wings.
SvarSletwow....that's pretty scary. but maybe other lion join the attack, not only the two lioness
SvarSletSome isotope work was done on their tooth enamel recently to work out how many people they'd eaten.
SvarSletwhy are they called maneaters??
SvarSletbecause they eat men
These lions are massive killers. I would run to the hills if i saw these!
SvarSletI wonder why there were nobody to defend the workers. Bet that a few guns would cost less than 135 new workers!
SvarSletThis is a great and fierce species of lion. They look majestic
SvarSletI've just recently watched a documental about this.
SvarSletIt's not that scary is you ask me, the problem was those workers were not armed or prepared to defend themselves.
dont mess with the lionz! :D
SvarSletWoah, I want one of those as a pet. Or a ride. Imagine riding one of those down the road. Honk at me...PLEASE honk at me.
SvarSletWow! Never heard about that before. Feel bad for the lions. When will humans realize that we don't own everything and when encroaching on a predator's territory we should expect resistance...
SvarSlet135 deaths by 2 lions? that sounds a little too much. In how many years?
SvarSletcrazy animals
SvarSleti wonder if they are extinct
Cool post. That's very interesting.
SvarSletWhat idiots haha, how come they didn't bring a gun after the first killing?
SvarSletJust made me want to watch that movie with val kilmer and the lions, ghost in the darkness I believe it was called.
SvarSletYeah those are pretty scary.
SvarSletTango Anglo:
SvarSletYes, I believe so!
Betta sp:
They are actually 2 male lions. The male tsavo lion is maneless :)
Immafrog:
Well, that's still pretty scary to me :/ I haven't watched a documentary about this yet.
Pantheon:
We know for sure that at least 35 people were killed by the two lions in less than a year. But exactly how many people were killed is unclear.
Thanks for all your comments guys, appreciate it!
These are really pretty. Frightening to think they could have killed that many people or more, but pretty nonetheless. :)
