The Fenris Wolf

The Fenris Wolf, also known as Fenrir, is a powerful and monstrous wolf in Norse mythology. Its mother is Angerboda and its father is Loki a half god half jötunn (troll). By having Angerboda and Loki as parents it also has 2 monstrous siblings; the Midgard Serpent and Hel the female ruler of the underworld. What a family, huh?

But Fenris wasn’t always as frightening. The gods (Æsir) let it grow up in Asgard because it was the son of Loki, and wasn’t behaving too bad. But the beast quickly grew to enormous size and the Gods started to fear it. Therefore the gods decided to chain it, which wasn’t an easy task…

- It is said that during Ragnarok this monstrosity of a wolf will break free of its chains and devour the sun and afterwards kill Oden the king of gods. But fear not… Vidar the son of Oden will avenge the death of his father by killing the foul beast.
